Security concepts for major urban events
MultikOSi - New research project for IMS.
Events such as public viewing, city festivals or concerts are a regular part of urban life. For the necessary safety concepts to prevent accidents, however, organizers and security forces lack scientific and practical planning aids.
IMS will contribute its expertise in the collection, aggregation and consolidation of large divergent data sets. It will network partners' systems and explore a web portal for event planners.
employee of IMS Gesellschaft für Informations- und Managementsysteme mbH from Dinslaken In the next three years, together with experts of the company VDS Event Service Security and the University of Munich, the University of Kaiserslautern, the Technical University of Munich and the University of Koblenz-Landau in the project MultikOSi to support systems for the planning and implementation of major urban events , The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding the project with 3.3 million euros as part of the program "Research for Civil Security II".
The project team bundles its expertise in event security, mathematics, computer science, sociology and civil engineering to gain a better understanding of the processes at major urban events, to explore new models of visitor flows and to link them together. From this an instrument for planning support and optimization of security concepts for events should be derived. The interplay of criteria such as safety, openness and economy are the focus of optimization.
The comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach will create new methods for planning events that will allow a smooth flow of events with high visitor satisfaction. From the scientific results later new software instruments for event planning can be developed.
With its sub-project, IMS pursues the goal of supporting responsible persons in the development of security concepts. For this purpose, relevant CAFM data as well as the research results of the partners are processed and provided in a practicable way. In cooperation with the partners, in addition to the behavior and feelings of the visitors, legal and organizational aspects of planning support are also included.
